What motivated your decision to transition from the banking industry in Beirut to running a family business and pursuing further education in Canada?

Faten Halabi: Transitioning from the banking industry in Beirut to running a family business and pursuing further education in Canada was motivated by my desire for personal growth and exploration. While my initial career in banking provided a solid foundation, I felt a strong calling to expand my knowledge through higher education and to embrace new opportunities abroad.

Joining the family business allowed me to deepen my understanding of entrepreneurship while immersing myself in a different cultural and business environment.

Could you share some key lessons or experiences from your time in Bahrain, both professionally and personally, that have had a significant impact on your career trajectory?

Faten Halabi: My time in Bahrain was transformative both professionally and personally. Contrary to misconceptions, Bahrain provided a supportive environment for women in leadership roles. However, it also required dedication and hard work to prove one’s capabilities. This experience taught me resilience, determination, and the importance of advocating for oneself in the face of challenges.

Faten Halabi: My experience as a business consultant in Jakarta exposed me to diverse working cultures and perspectives. Additionally, witnessing social issues firsthand fueled my passion for social activism and reinforced my commitment to making a positive impact wherever I go.

As a single mother balancing a successful career and raising two children, what strategies or support systems have been crucial for you in maintaining this balance?

I’ve been fortunate to have a network of supportive mentors and friends who provided guidance and encouragement. Additionally, prioritizing self-care and effective time management has been instrumental in maintaining harmony between my professional and personal responsibilities.

Faten Halabi: My passion for advocating for women’s rights and contributing to charitable causes stems from a lifelong commitment to making a difference in the lives of others. I believe in the importance of giving back to society and empowering marginalized communities. Integrating these causes into my professional life allows me to align my values with my actions, fostering a sense of purpose and fulfillment in my career.
