  • Suad Al Lamki’s success is truly inspiring. As the first female lawyer in Oman to make a significant impact, her story is a testament to perseverance and breaking barriers in the legal field. Her achievements surely provided a powerful example of what it means to pave the way for others. This is what inspired me and made me see her as a role model in the field of law, and I strive to achieve such success one day.
  • My journey towards becoming a lawyer began long before I entered the legal profession. While I was still a student, I had the opportunity to participate in a women’s awareness workshop. It was there that I first realized the significant role we, as legal professionals, can play in empowering the community. I felt a deep sense of responsibility to help raise awareness and advocate for those who may not have a voice, inspiring me to pursue law as a way to contribute positively to society. This experience was a turning point, fueling my determination to succeed and make a meaningful impact in the legal field.

As the head of the commercial department, what strategies have you implemented to develop the firm and integrate humanitarian and social roles into its operations?

    • I have focused on ensuring our firm meets high standards of excellence and complies with international regulations. This dedication has helped us build trust with clients both nationally and internationally, positioning our firm as a reliable partner known for its professionalism and ethical approach.
    • As head of the commercial department, I’ve ensured our firm excels in legal practice while contributing to society through initiatives like the Legal Profession Readiness Course in collaboration with Modern College of Business and Science as we worked with two batches of law graduates, helping them develop key legal skills for their careers. We also partnered with Handicraft House to offer pro bono courses and played a role in the Herfa Program, providing entrepreneurship workshops and legal guidance to emerging female entrepreneurs, fostering both their skills and passion.

What challenges have you faced as a female lawyer, particularly in a field that can be male-dominated, and how have you overcome them?

      • In my experience, I haven’t felt that the legal field is particularly male-dominated, as female lawyers are now playing a prominent and impactful role. Additionally, I’ve been fortunate to receive strong support from Mr. Abdullah Al-Moshyqri and the entire team at Abdullah Al-Moshyqri Advocates & Legal Consultants. This support has been instrumental in helping me thrive and overcome any challenges, allowing me to focus on growing my career and contributing meaningfully to the legal profession.

Advocacy is a critical aspect of your work. How do you approach building trust with clients, especially in special cases that require sensitive handling?

        • Building trust with clients, especially in sensitive cases, begins with open communication, empathy, and confidentiality. I make sure to listen to their concerns, explain their legal options clearly, and keep them informed throughout the process. Having the experience and knowledge to navigate complex legal matters has also been crucial in earning their confidence. By demonstrating reliability, expertise, and a genuine commitment to their best interests, I foster strong trust and ensure clients feel supported and assured in their legal journey.

You’ve delivered numerous awareness workshops promoting the role and legal rights of women. How do you ensure these initiatives resonate with diverse audiences and create lasting impact?

          • To ensure my workshops on women’s legal rights resonate with diverse audiences, I focus on making the content relatable and accessible. I adapt the material to fit the unique needs and interests of each group, using clear language, relevant examples, and interactive elements to engage participants. I also encourage open discussions, allowing participants to share their experiences and ask questions.

What are your aspirations for the future of your career and the firm, and what advice would you offer to young women aspiring to enter the legal profession?

My aspirations for the future are to continue growing professionally, expand the firm’s reach, and foster opportunities for young legal talent, particularly women, while making a positive impact in the community. To young women aspiring to enter the legal profession, my advice is to be confident, stay committed to learning, and work hard. Seek mentorship, build your network, and stay true to your values. With determination and support, you can overcome challenges and make valuable contributions to both the legal field and the community.
